Hey I'm looking to find a honda civic EK '96-'00 HATCHbACK. and i know a few things about the DX that the CX doesn't have like power windows, and all that.. and that the CX is much lighter then the DX. but i want to know about the engine specs.. do they both have diff. engines? (stock, not swapped) i just wanted to know because i'm thinking of getting one within this month, so far nothing has popped up yet on the net and papers. but in the long run thanks for any help you all can give me. any other things about the two please tell me. THANKS

dx has a cargo cover, painted doorhandles, side moldings, mirrors and spoiler. i think thats about it.

first off, the EX is the only one with vtec, its only a 1.6L sohc, but the dx and cx have some variation of a non-vtec 1.5L d15..... the EX will have (most likely because these are options) power everything, moonroof, painted mirrors and door moldings... The EX is a nicer version but it is more expensive.

umm there are a few problems with what you say:

first 96-00 hatchbacks dont come in an EX trim
second 96-00 hatchbacks came with a 1.6 sohc non-vtec d16

that is very correct none of the hatchback came with vtec d16y7 but if you ask me between cx and dx its the same thing.. both are slow pos... cause i have one

dx comes with rear wiper and cx not.

 

CX tranny is longer than the DX tranny, so CX is even slower than the DX.

my cx had a rear wiper.

sure? why the hell would honda do that?

 

CX does not have a rear wiper from the factory. If it has one, then someone AFTER the factory did something, either replaced the hatch or added it in some way.

CX does not have body colored hatch spoiler from the factory; it's got a black plastic version.

CX has two front speakers and no AC; rear speakers and AC are options.

the drivetrain for both cars is identical. The FD is 3.72 on both, unlike the coupe/sedan DX/LX which would have 4.06 or something...

if there is anything else and i remember it, i'll add it.

 

i bought mine from colorado so yeah maybe someone added the rear wiper cause it rains and snows there A LOT! my cx didnt come with power steering either.

 

WOW. that was a lot of things pointed out from the 2.. DX is the way to go then. more things to work with i guess, thanks guys!

 

i think at this point, you take what you can get since the newest of them will now be almost 8 years old, the oldest almost 12, so really, the differences are so minimal, i'd get the cleanest one available, cx or dx

actually its not very correct, the d16y7 is the 1.6L non vtec, the y8 is the vtec model

 

Cx definitely doesn't come with rear windshield wiper also no low gas indicator ...

just say a dx has more options then a cx

 

true.. thats like a base model then... jus like my new teggy i got. first car. bone stock. its a 91 rs. its ok for a 16yrold at 55k on it lol

 

Idk I don't see any differences from the Dx or the Cx I have a Cx myself and its pretty fine.

 

thats great dude. i got an 91' integra rs. ppl tell me everytime what is that ls/gs? and im like naw base model, the rs. and there like.. oh. it gets me everytime but im fine with the rs, so what i dont have cruise control.. who needs it? i dont got power windows/power locks/sunroof,pretty much power everything. but this is better, the rs is just like those eg's.. pretty much manually done
