Default Why EK and not CX, DX

I noticed that some civic hatchbacks are referred to as EK's is this an american trims only? Because I was looking into buying a Civic Hatchback and the only trims available are CX and DX, now im buying a civic in Canada. Is there any differences?

ek is the chassis code for the jdm right hand drive 96-00 hatch back. Cx and Dx are the trim levels they vary with engine type and certain feaures like power windows etc. In the states and Canada you will find the EJ(chassis code)unless your are lucky enought to find the right hand drive(ek) in the states

Untrue. EK is the chassis designation for civic 3dr, 5dr, and 4dr models sold in asia, europe, australia, africa, and south america.

92-95 civic (EG) (EH) (EJ6)

92-93 EX ( Coupe, Sedan) has, Power windows, door locks, Power steering, D16Z6 sohc vtec engine with AC as an option, not standard

94-95 EX (Coupe, Sedan) includes all of the above but comes with AC standard as well as a passenger side airbag ABS as an option

92-95 LX, ( Coupe, Sedan) follows suit to the EX, but the vtec motor and the sunroof

92-93 DX (Hatch, Coupe, Sedan) has no power options and comes with a 16 valve sohc, non vtec but offers AC and PS as options also has side moldings stock

94-95 DX ( Hatxh, Coupe, Sedan) has all of the same Jazz exept it comes with a standard passenger side airbag and has power steering as well as AC on most modles

92-93 VX ( Hatch Only) has a d15Z1 E-Vtec motor, the best gas saver i belive but comes with nothing, no PS, no AC, no radio

94-95 VX Hatch Only) has nothing else on the 92-93 except the passenger side airbag

92-95 CX ( Hatch only) 8 Valve no vtec very slow and 2nd best gas milage 94-95 has airbag on the passenger side

92-95 Si D16Z6 Only in hatchback, has sunroof, power steering and AC as an option

CX and VX have no side moldings

96-00 has the DX, HX, CX, LX, EX, GX, Si (EK) (EJ6) ( EJ8)

96-00 DX ( Hatch, Coupe, Sedan) dual airbags radio nonvtec no power although has AC and PS as options

96-00 CX ( Hatch only) from what i have seen the CX has almost no differences becasue i have seen these with power steering as well as AC and tyhey share the same powerplant

96-00 HX ( Coupe only) this is by far the best E-Vtec Vehicle that honda has ever built and i have got 45+ mpg in one they come with AC and PS as a very common option as well as power windows but no sunroof

96-00 EX ( Coupe and Sedan) EX has all power options, as well as power steering, AC, Power moonroof D16Y8 Vtec Engine

96-00 LX, ( Coupe and 4 Door) LX has everything that the EX has but moonroof and it has a non vtec D16Y7

96-00 GX ( Sedan Only) Natral Gas vehicle with all power options and many times equipped with a moonroof

99-00 Si ( Coupe only) exerything the EX has but also comes with 2 other killer interior options as well as a B16A2 engine

The only main difference between the 1996-1998 and the 1999 and the 2000 is:

The climate control
The front end and the Rear Tail-lights
