Default What should I do?

My axle has 106k on it and its boot is on the verge of spliting. My axle has no problem nor make any sound.

Should I change the boots or get a reman axle from autozone?

Basicially what i'm asking is, is a 106k axle with new boots better than a reman axle from autozone.

New boots if you do it yourself, a shop will charge more than what a reman. axle will cost just to replace the boots (ask me how I know!)

I would MUCH rather have an OEM joint with 100k on it than a P.O.S. reman joint from autozone.

What's the diff? I've always used reman. axles and they have a lifetime warranty as well

lifetime waranty or not, oem is a lot better quality
i use autozone axles too, but i could afford it oem would be nice.
i have a set of stock axles with 160k, all i did was replace the booths and repack with grease and still going strong

If you know the old axle that is spitting grease out did not go a long time with no grease left, get it repacked. But if you drive on it and there is not enough grease inside, the joint will over heat and fail sooner or later.

in my experience, replacing the boot always ends up badly, with the CV joint eventually going bad anyways. I would replace the entire axle and have piece of mind.

chances are that if the boot is torn and grease is leaking out, then dirt has gotten in and that means death for your CV joints.
