Re: CV boot (ahloung)
the axle will be about 50-60 from Autozone or Kragen, just get a buddy and pick a day to install it. It's not bad at all, lift, pull wheels, disconnect wheel hub from axle, pullllll axle from tranny, put new axle in, attach it all back together, refill tranny(it drains when you pull the passenger side axle) and call it a day.

Someone once told me that if you are changing the passenger side you can jack up that side of the car, put it an an angle, and you won't lose any tranny fluid. Anyone care to comfirm?

I've always heard that if you pull the axles BEFORE you drain the tranny will result in an oil bath

What kind of quotes are you specifically getting from people? By the way, DIY if you can. Don't be afraid to learn.
Otherwise, local shops around here do CV boot replacements for around $35 parts & labor. Replace the whole axle and you'll pay around $60 for the axle, and then labor to have it installed.
