Default What does sleeving & boring do?

I can't believe I don't know this yet........Would anyone be able to give me a general or even detailed answer to why people sleeve and bore their blocks?

Thanks!

go to And read there services for blocks, its a start for understanding what you can do. Also search on overboost.com, they did an article on GE, very cool photos of the process.

Boring the block is making displacement larger because of making the cylinders wider, and sleeving is putting aftermarket cylinder sleeves on so you can run higher compression or run boost.
