I have been contemplating on welding the diff on my d16 tranny for this year and try it out. I cannot afford a quaife for this season and I have a couple of spare d-series trannies and I was wondering the pro's and cons about welding the diff. I understand torque steer is a bit wild, but anything other than that?

well its a daily driver, but i dont street race, well try not to anyways, just want full lsd for a bargain as it sits and a phantom grip is useless. I cannot afford a quaife until next year. Just seeing what I can do until then.

 

If you weld that diff it won't be a daily driver any more. You'll break axles and all kinds of ****. Does OBX have a diff for the D16? Those are identical to the quaife, indestructible, and $320 on ebay.

 

i will see what happens with the obx diffs.

 

There was someone with 500+whp running one on the street, just beating the hell out of it for months. Couldn't break it last I saw.

 

ok thanks for the help, I looked at the different prices and its almost un-real how much the lsd's go for. I am willing to spare 400.00 canadian on an obx lsd. Thanks for the help ... Chris
