JDM B16A with PR3 ecu - first proper drive after installing new engine,

the engine is cutting out in VTEC at 5300rpm, will rev to 5300 but cuts out and wont go past it,

I can hold it at around this point but it cuts out if I try and go past it....

is this like what happens when the rev limiter cuts in?

what else could it be?

my VSS wire is attached to my speedo output wire from the 83 prelude dash - this may be the problem but how do I fix it?

the only engine mods are a K&N filter and the B&M fuel pressure regulator...

check your oil. is your check engine light on? if the cam lobes dont get enough oil your rev limiter will cut in at about 5500 rpms. just a suggestion

 

are all your wires hooked up?

 

yep, all the wires are hooked up except for the ELD (Electrical Load Detector) wire to the dash and the two pin plug underneath the knock sensor (that i dont know what it is?!?!?).

the oil level is fine.

it seems like the fuel cut out is happening,

can anyone confirm whether the fuel cut out operates with regard to oil pressure or level?
