VTEC will not engage on my B16B ... Help!
The engine is a B16b. I'm using a 92 Civic EX engine harness. The rest of the wiring is from a 92 Civic VX. ECU is a Kenji chipped P-28.
VTEC does not engage at all.
I have checked all my wire connections from the VTEC Solenoid and VTEC Pressure Switch to the ECU. They are fine.
I have checked my ground off the VTEC Pressure Switch. It's fine.
I have excellent oil pressure.
I don't believe I'm throwing any codes. I'm not running the stock gauge cluster ... so it's hard to tell, but the car runs fine without VTEC and still revs to redline.
VTEC will work if I hard wire it (ie. attaching a 12V source directly to the solenoid).
The VSS is hooked up.
I have cleaned both screens in the VTEC Solenoid & checked it's operation. It's fine.
I have plenty of oil & no dents in the oil pan.
Please help? I'm out of ideas. Also, does the chipped ECU look for a VTEC Pressure Switch?

wow it looks like you know what you're doing. i was ready to state the obvious but you already tried it all
all i can think of is your ECU...are you sure it was chipped by a reliable person? (ie did they mess it up?)

I have a Kenji ECU with a JDM GS-r with CTR cams and in my stock ecu switch was at 4400rpm and I could hear the switch very well, but with the p28 its not as abvious cuz its a 5300rpm. I'd check for codes if non come up reset your ecu, u'd be surprized how many prablems can be fixed by reseting the ecu. My bros CRX bogged down at part throttle until someone told him to reset the ecu and the prob went away instantly.
edit: My pressure switch is hooked up and I never disconnected it so i don't know, I know of one guy with a Zydane(spelling) ECU in a 87 CRX, that car doesn't need the pressure switch.

my friend had this problem in his crx, found out that the wire for his vtec was too small. so they repaced that wire with a bigger gauge and it work!

use honda oem wiring and won't have that problem

Sorry I wrote this about 4 hours ago but Honda-Tech was being gay... Or maybe it was my comp and wouldn't let me post...
Is your motor warmed up??? So if you connect a 12vdc signal to your VTEC solenoid at idle your motor bogs right.... Just making sure because if all you hear is the solenoid clicking over I would check your rocker pistons... Just missing one primary, secondary, or VTEC rocker piston will cause your rockers to not lock resulting in NO VTEC
This is pretty much a last resort... Hook up a DMM to your VTEC signal wire and drive the car... Do you get a 12vdc signal where your VTEC x-over is programmed??? If not I would also try a different ECU... Good Luck and let us know if you find the problem... Peace

Whenever adding wire I use 14-16awg... Most stock on the engine loom aside from high current sources are 18awg... Oh well just thought I would mention it...
my motor did not come with a vtec pressure switch (JDM b18c-R) so I just wired the oil pressure switch directly onto my vtec wire.
maybe try this. But beware that VTEC can engage before the motor is warm.
