Default VTEC selanoid and activation.....

When the VTEC kicks in how long does the selonoid stay closed(activated). I've heard of people who've made home made VTEC switches but it destroyed their VTEC selonoids. I just think that they leave the selonoid closed(activated) for too long and so the coil inisde the selonoid burns out.

Anyhow my question is how long does the VTEC selanoid stay activated when the VTEC kicks in? My theory is that the selonoid only kicks in to allow the power to flow then closes off immediatly. Then the oil pressure will do the rest.

So why do some guys, who make the VTEC activation switches, have selonoids that go out on them? There has to be a reason why they go out and I'm thinking that it just burns out becuase its activated for too long.

I agree. I hooked up a vtec light to figure out a vtec problem I was having and power is sent to the solinoid the whole time vtec is engauged. Maybe people are forgetting to turn off their switch.
