Default VTEC oil supply!??!!

Well, I got my CRVTEC in and started. Problem is that there is no VTEC. If I power up the soleniod it "clicks" but no actuation. I put a pressure guage on the plug at the front of the head and it dribbles up to 20 psi. Pressure at supply line is 65-75 psi. Where is my oil pressure going???

Yes I tapped and plugged the hole in the head.
Yes I've swapped solenoids and mount blocks.
I AM STUMPED!!!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

My friend had the same problem. He added some sort of thicker oil and it worked after that. PM Tonyxcom. Ask him what kind of oil he used.

I'm thinking that maybe I made an error assembling the head and oil is bleeding out. Is there a common mistake that causes this????

4deep: I'm using 30 weight rrunning in oil so there shouldnt be a problem with that. I think it is "idiot error"

A few things you need to check.
1. Are you getting any kind of codes?
2.Is your oil full?
3. And this may seem dumb but did you plumb an oil line from the back of the block where the oil sendig unit is to the back f the head?
Im using 5W30 oil and my VTEC is working fine.
Also what car is this engine in? If you put it in an HF CRX there are 2 wires that need to be cut or it will not run properly at all. You need to cut B9 and B11.
As far as the codes go if you get and ect code VTEC will not work.
good luck bro

Most questions answered in sig. Car is 85 Civic, sttand alone engine management system so no codes. Hehehe yes I ran a supply line. Even if I power the soleniod, I aint getting pressure at the valvetrain. A mate (Bruthaboost) has informed me that I may have left the dowels out of the guideplates, so I'll check that in the morning.

Any other ideas????

Another thing that you might want to check is the VSS sensor. VTEC will not operate unless the computer sees a load. So make sure your VSS is hooked up.
Hope ya find the problem.

Car has STAND ALONE ENGINE MANAGEMENT. Doesnt get codes. I'm manually triggering VTEC soleniod. It is an oil supply problem NOT an electrical problem. Thanx anyway.
