So does anyone run there oil feed like this??
I noticed they were feeding the turbo from where a blank allen plug is on the front of the head. Seems like it would be a lot less oil line and would free up sandwich plate ports for other uses... Any feedback, its from the cover of a "Joe Pettitt Honda builders handbook" BTW

would that not steal the needed pressure for vtec?? ive never seen that before but would be awesome if it works.

I would imagine with a strong enough oil pump and thin enough oil feed line it would work? I'd love to go this route, anyone with feedback?

this was my concern also, but heck its from a builders handbook on "how to build a 477hp gsr motor so I would hope it was sufficient to support Oil psi to vtec..

There's a bit more pressure from the oil sending unit. I recommend (for your turbo's sake) to go from the oil sending unit. A lot of DSMs use the head point that you're showing, and Garretts tend to suffer from that location.

I had my friend put his feed similar to that in the picture. It was an H22 set up that had a port on the back of the head. Been using it for the pass 2 years without any oiling issues.

I would say throw a gauge on there and drive around n/a first to see what its doing.
I know evos get their feed from a similar location as well.

Isn't around 25 psi sufficient for feeding a turbo?, I mean, we put restrictor jets in line to limit psi, so why would you need 80 from the sandwich plate vs 60-75 from the front head source...?? I dont wanna go against the shodan seeing is how he's building my Surfer as we speak but I'm just curious

like lightning said, that would be the best way to find out whats happening at that port. what i wonder is if vtec would not work properly because of the drop in pressure or if it would be nominal and no difference.

Isn't that the vtec oil pressure test location? I'm pretty sure that doesn't get that much pressure until vtec solinoid opens. I've had dual oil pressure lines on, one at the sandwhich plate and one on this port to see if vtec galleys were getting enough oil pressure to engage the locks in the rockers. If I remember correctly, it didn't have much pressure at all until vtec engaged, then brought the oil pressure from sandwhich plate down approx, 12-15psi. I don't think that port has pressure until vtec engages.

I ran mine like this on a b series motor. it was from one of the two allen bolts for the oil cam galleys on the side of the head. the motor was non vtec however. i never had a problem, but i have heard not to do it on vtec motors as previously stated. never had a problem from mine.

99.9% sure that port on the cover of that book only has oil pressure when the vtec solenoid is engaged. No oil pressure before the set vtec point.

that port only has adequate pressure when vtec is engaged. it's supposed to have under 7 psi normally according to honda.

Done deal, Running a line from the GE sandwich plate. Shodan I've already bought my feed line, doesn't the surfer run a bigger than normal an port size??

Don't know what that means. "port size"?
Cartridge used for the surfer that has the water fittings uses a 1/8thNPT
cartridge used for the surfer without water fittings uses 1/4NPT
-3AN Line should be used. Please check oil pressures at the line to determine if a .065" restrictor is needed. Anything over 85psi at the line should use one

Re: So does anyone run there oil feed like this??
I'm pretty happy with my GE oil sandwich setup so I would probably never do this, but keeping in line with tapping off the head for an oil feed, what about using a 10x1.25 banjo bolt setup off of the VTEC oil pressure sensor port on the solenoid assembly that a lot of people plug off anyway? That port should have pressure all the time since the ecu uses it to check to make sure there is adequate oil pressure before engaging VTEC, correct?
