VTEC not running as strong as it used to....need help!
Recently, I had an H22 swapped into my EJ sedan. My brother had the motor in his prelude before a semi crashed into him. He was able to drive home from the accident but it was running at high temp due to his radiator gettin busted. Now after the swap, we both noticed that the VTEC does not pull as hard as it used to. Im also leaking oil occasionally from my crank seal and my filter neck. Didnt know if I need to replace my headgasket due to him running it at high temp for a little. Also, a local mechanic told me that it could be my oil pump going bad. It's a JDM motor with no mroe than 50k on it. Anyone know how to help?
I miss my hard hitting VTEC
it maybe because you are leaking oil. vtec runs off of oil pressure and maybe you aren't getting enough to properly engage the vtec. just an idea....
Are you sure Vtec in engaging? Make sure everything is checking out okay, including your O2 sensor. Do you have any CELs? Oil pressure is a +! Make sure you see that jump when Vtec kicks in; otherwise you're running on your primaries.

If he was driving for a long period of time with the car overheating, his head may very well be warped. THis would require the head to be milled flat, a new HG (obviously) and inspection of the block/head for signs of detonation from the crazy heat.
Do a compression/leakdown test, that will tell you what you need to know.
