More H22 problems.... Vtec problems
Car- 98 Prelude (Non SH) h22 Auto trans
Whats wrong with the car right now- Header is cased up alittle on the bottom, and an o2 sensor code, and it's buring ahalf a quart a week (no leaks)
Problem- Vtec is there, but there's no real power..... It gets Loud and little high pitched in Vtec, but the car doesn't really go faster.
Synthedic oil is always changed and topped up, vtec selinoid screen has been cleaned.
So what the expletive is my problem! I adjusted the Vtec controller up to 6000, so now it pulls alittle from 6-7.
Thanks

VTEC isn't there because you have low oil pressure from burning the oil
check your headgasket....
Note: YOu have to have proper oil pressure for vtec to kick in.
Low oil = low oil pressure.
Suggestion: Change your vtec engagement point back to normal. Figure out why you're burning oil (possible headgasket blown).
To check to see if the headgasket is blown - heat up the car to normal operating temp - put a sheet of paper tightly around the oil fill hole (remove cap) and see if it bulges up a little (from the extra pressure). If so, you could very well have a blown headgasket. Just a suggestion.

you need to do a leak down test. A compression test only gives you a general answer that you are either holding compression or arent. A leak down test will point to the bad area.
