VTEC NOT POPPING! HELP
aiight look. i got a d15b block with a y8 head on a p2p ecu. vtec was popping randomly but then stopped for good now. my vehicle speed sensor is bad. as well as my o2 sensors, iat sensor and fuel and air something. i tryied running vtec to a switch but when i try to engage it, it boggs out completely. the soleniod does make the tick sound when i check it......now ive heard the vehicle speed sensor could affect vtec from popping. i have the right amount of oil. plz any1 and evry1. give me your advice.
i scanned the ecu and looked up the codes on ALLDATA. and it gave me ... ignition system or misfire- which is further looked up and it looks like thats the distributor. and other bullshit coeds like o2 sensors, vss, and some electric load detector reading wrong voltage in my fusebox but i think i know wat that is that he rigged something there.
VTEC will not engage if o2 sensor is bad and the VSS isn't working properly, as it checks to make sure you are going a certain speed, as VTEC doesn't engage when you rev up at idle.
Any codes to do with timing or fuel, VTEC will not engage. Also hooking up your VTEC to a switch is completely stupid, as the ECU checks multiple things before it allows for it to engage, if you put it on a switch and engage it before it's supposed to, without the increased oil pressure, your motor will starve itself.
As delsolproblems said, you need to fix all of your CEL's as these codes aren't "bullshit" they ensure that your sensors are working properly so it can provide accurate data to the ECU to run to its optimum level.
The misfire could be bad plugs, wires, or the Ignition Control Module starting to go out in the distributor. I would do a full tune up on the car to ensure that the ignition system is up to par.
