Default vtec not completely engaging

well i have a friend that has a b16 turbocharged.....but his vtec is malfunctioning. it sorts of sputters when it engages and it does this for a few second then it clears up then the rpm goes on normally(above 6000rpm) well so far we check almost everything...oil pressure,VSS,etc...and he also put the oil pressure line for the turbo from the front of the head......into that little 10 nut infront of the head, would this play a factor for the oil pressure loss..as of now we dont know what to do..can this be mechanical or electrical problem?

it's engaging, it's just bogging. get a vtec controller so you can move the VTEC point around.

Are there any internal modifications? Is your oil pressure dropping at that point? What turbo do you have? More info would help...

i think it may be where the oil line is tapped..

why didn't he just tap it by the oil sending unit?

FYI: your oil feed line is coming right off the oil gallery that feeds your spray bars and rocker arm dowels. I had mine there and I'm moving it.

You said you checked your oil pressure. What oil pressure readings are you getting at the switch over point ? Did you check your solenoid valve ?

Yes, that's the oil pressure test location for the VTEC solenoid. You're definitely not supposed to have the oil feed there...
