Vtec engagement question
ok when my Vtec engages, it doesn't feel as if it pulls that hard...almost as if it engages smoothly, no jump in rpms...different sound, but doesn't jump like my friend's, LS/Vtec...its a JDM itr motor running on a stock civic VX fuel pump (the fuel pump is what i believe the problem is)...my buddy's LS/Vtec has the USDM type-R complete head with a stock type-R fuel pump and his pulls amazing...is my problem the stock VX fuel pump? will a Type-R fuels pump cure this? thanks for all the help
if you are running B series (which I assume you are because of the CTR pistons) the vtec should sound different, not necessarly feel 100% different. do what I did, disconnect it (vtec sensor) and drive it around. (btw, your CEL will be on) if there is a difference, there is nothing wrong. if there is no difference, well, start troubleshooting....
you need tuning...
Go visit a reputable dyno place and pick up a VAFC to fine tune the Mugen program, along with some adjustable camsprockets.
btw, stock ITR VTEC x-over point is 5700rpm. Although when you go get tuned, they'll probably drop your vtec point to about 5300-5400rpm.
