Default vtec?

change vtec solenoid, vtec work. works only for one time then check lights turns on. ill have to turn off the car and start it again inorder to have vtec. Any thoughts?

when i turn off the car and start it back up, the check light disappear. But i tried checking the code while the car is running and received code 21...i just replace the vtec solenoid with a new one too so couldnt be that

I had the same problem when I hooked up my VTEC light. Do you have any connections spliced off the solenoid wire? If so, try soddering the spliced wire to the original vtec wire, that should solve. If not, make sure all connections to and from the solenoid are secure and soddered.

replace the ecu with one you KNOW vtec works on. if the problem goes away. he was right.

I'm having a similar problem, but my vtec has never worked (but the solenoid is not bad). going through the helms manual points right to the ecu. I just think it's fishy that only the vtec activation could go "bad" in an electronic piece of equipment like the ecu. but what do I know...
