Default Vapor Lock???

I have a 95 GSR turbo and I am running my inline fuel pump on my firewall. I DO NOT have a stock pump in the tank. I pulled it out. I have ran fine on the inline pump along and dyno'd at 300 to the wheels. But this has just started. I get out of my car and when I get back in it and try to start it, it sounds like the fuel pump is going but not moving any fuel. I think that it maybe vapor lock. It will start pumping again once I leave it standing for a while. The weather hasn't really heated up either. Im in Orange County in Cali. Anyone experience this before?

Nope. But, I am not running the system that you are.

Have you looked over all the lines? Could be that you have a kinked line?

Lines are fine. I never touch anything, and if i let it sit for a while.... it will start up and run fine. Anyone else....

It almost seems like the pump cannot get all the air between it and the tank out on the first few trys.....try this......turn key to on, wait a few, then off repeat a few times and attempt to start.......

I did that too... plenty of times. I even took the gas cap off and took out the bolt on the top of the fuel filter and got a wire and ran it from the positive on the battery to the pump. Im sitting the waiting for fuel to come up.... but dam.... it just doesn't. I have to wait for like 10-20 min. and then i can do it again... and it will start pumping. *scratching my head*

Spade scratches his head too. Where is the line in the tank? Does it have a filter on the end of it? What the heck made you decide to get an inline pump?

this sounds kinda dumb.. but did you attach it to the right fuel line (supply, not return line.. and did you attach it correctly (ie: is it pulling fuel from the tank and not the fuel rail)

Well... in the tank is a straight piece of fuel line. It still has the filter on it. I took it out cause my inline can only push as much as the stock one due to this reason. It cant SUCK the volume that it wants though my stock pump. It creates a low pressure zone behind inline. That is why. And it did help when I did take it out.

well i did build my own motor from ground up so I do know what Im doing. You cant dyno 300 to the wheel when your pump is hooked up in the manner that you just stated!

My honest suggestion is to get an intank fuel pump and sell the in line to a Domestic.

Kewl.....in the meantime go back to stock....because I have no idea how to fix unless you move the inline closer to the tank.

You probaly need to move the inline closer to the tank. Its made to push the fuel better than pulling it.
