upgrading head on b18c1
i need to upgrade my head on my b18c1. it blew 3 valves and in the process a little TINY chunk is missing so i need to port and polish and put in oversized valves. i was looking at ferrea valves (.5mm oversized) but cant find a place with prices. what would be a good route that isnt real expensive to upgrade. i just want to use the stock springs/retainers but oversized valves....unless i can get all this done under $400....let me know pls thx
how many valves doe you need? also what side intake side only? usually valves go 12-20 bux each so if you need a full set it would be 200 plus. also you need a valve job. i would say you have no chance in hell of getting a port/polish oversized valves and a valve job for 400. portflow charges 900 for the port/polish and valve job plus assembly and another additional 20 bux for each ferrera valve.
also its usually NOT recommended to upgrade to oversized valves btw. it will actually hurt flow.

"SS VALVES 5MM OVERSIZE: $17.00 Ea. (Pic coming soon) "Food for thought............" ALANIZ recomends using stock valves on all normally aspirated B16, GSR heads. Our flowbench testing has shown .5mm oversize valves dont work no matter who I get them from. I also gave them a fair chance trying diffrent seat angles and widths with no positive results. At mid to high lifts we see about 2% less flow than a well modified stock valve. Any one who has flowbench tested a B16 or GSR should know this. Oversize valves breath better at lower lifts if modified correctley. Please remember this is not a DART, ARF, 18 DEG BOW TIE, OR A BRODIX. Many people who work on AMARICAN IRON HEADS apply technics that might work well on Chevy's and Fords but fail to realize that if you have done flowbench testing on Honda heads you'de think twice about going this route. Dont be suckerd! We only sell SS oversize valves in turbo and nitrous applications where high heat will be encountered or in instances where oversize valves responded well on the flow bench.
