HEAD BUILD...CROWER OR PORTFLOW? WHAT SS VALVES?
I found a local shop who seems to be pretty good at P&P jobs, they have a mean road track ITR. Anyways, should I stick with the portflow valvetrain, or use crower or some other? Also which valves should I get, go for the Ferrea. Anyone know of any cheaper than $383? All help is appreciated.

Check out the supertec valves at jdmhondaparts.com Don't have personal experience but I am looking at them myself.

I was just reading something over at overboost and they put some ferrea valve guides in with their ferrea valves. Are these included when you buy the valves or are they extra? Are they necessary, worthwhile? Thanks for the link, anyone have experience with them?

ferrea valve guides are extra and are needed if you change valve size. Ferrea is about the best you can get.

OK, more questions...if I go with Crower should I get the high pressure or standard springs. This is what I have planned:
B18B HEAD
• Portflow Port & Polish
• Portflow Deshroud Chambers to fit 84.5MM bore
• Ferrea Stainless Steel Valves (Swirl Polished Black Nitride Coated) ($383)
• Portflow Titanium Retainers
• Portflow Valve Springs ($400 Titanium Retainers and Springs)
• SKUNK2 Cam Gears ($175)
• Stock Cams
B18B BLOCK
• Golden Eagle Sleeves (bored and honed to 84.5mm)
• Eagle Connecting Rods ($325)
• Endyn 9.0:1 Compression Rollerwave pistons (84.5mm)
• Crank Micro-polished & Balanced
• Cometic 85MM Headgasket ($100)
• Pro Drive Oil Pump Gear ($240)
• Z-10 Engineering Block Girdle ($289) (GSR windage tray, GSR main bolts)
• Moroso Oil Pan with ½” NPT bung (PN: 20901) ($350 summit)
• Moroso Oil Pickup (PN: 24010 VTEC, PN: 24011 NON-VTEC) ($46 summit)
MISCELLANEOUS
• All new belts and hoses and bearings
• ARP head and rod bolts
Everything is changing though as I keep researching. Thanks again, keep em coming.

Great articles and pics now i really cant wait for my block to come back from ge and my head from portflow!!
I'm having portflow install the whole ferrea valvetrain for me, i've heard good things about them. Maybe when i get them back i'll take some pics and post them?

Re: HEAD BUILD...CROWER OR PORTFLOW? WHAT SS VALVES? (2K_TEG)
I have a fully built '99Si, and my brother has a fully built '97 Prelude. Both turbo. We both have complete Ferrea valvetrain and love it. I know people who have Crower, and then again I know people who dropped valves with Crower. Not to degrade there product or anything, but I chose Ferrea because the machine shop that did my headwork (GTP, Houston) only uses Ferrea unless you bring in your own. He uses Ferrea on cars pushing 800+ (LS1, and so forth). So that is what I chose. Also when I called Ferrea the person I spoke with told me that my stock Si valves were strong enough and past rigorous test which they have done. Although I had slighty bent 8 of them and recieved a the Ferrea valves at cost so I took it! I have yet to meet anyone on the streets who use Ferrea. They all say it's too expensive?

Re: HEAD BUILD...CROWER OR PORTFLOW? WHAT SS VALVES? (non-VTEC)
i kinda doubt that... if you've seen the mark up on si valves you will be so shocked. i much rather run a stock valve than an si valve. si valves from my understanding a two piece valve where the head and the stem are spun welded together.
