Default tw sensor

Ok my friend's tw sensor (engine coolant sensor) is triping the engine light and going out about every two months he drives a '94 Accord ex, he has no leads as to what could be causing it, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, that would be great, any advice is helpfull thanks

If the wiring and connections are good, the TW sensor itself could be bad. They do have a tendency to go 'open' at times. FYI, they are just variable resistors that change with temperature. If you had the time and patience, you could attach an ohm meter to it and heat up the sensor and let it cool while watching the meter. A new one is about $30 if I recall correctly.
