Turbo LS-V no vtec!!!
Ok, so today I went to get my ls vtec turbo tuned and discovered that vtec was not engaging. First thing I did was check oil level and then connected the vtec solenoid wire to the positive on the battery...solenoid works fine. Next, I hooked a test light up to the vtec solenoid wire coming from the harness...no power. I then connected the test light to the solenoid wire on the ecu...no light. The car is throwing a coolant temp sensor code. Will this have anything to do with vtec not engaging? I am stumped at this point and really do not know what to do next. I absolutely have to tune tomorrow due to the move I am about to make. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Someone please help!!!
So I did some heavy searching and found out that vtec will not work without the coolant temp sensor. So now my question is what could cause it to not work besides it being a bad sensor? Im pretty sure it is a wiring issue but not positive.
the ECT sensor is 2 wires. not rocket science. do a continuity test between the plug and the ecu and see what is or isnt working.
chances are the wires have fatigued from years of use.
