Default True or not?

i need clarified...

some told me that If I took my d16a9 (137hp) engine and put i/h/e/cams whatever.. and made it 165-170 hp, I would still get killed by the same car with stock b16a t/f?

I think it would be based on the driver from there seeing that you would both be pushing about the same horsepower.

dunno, he claimed the "vtec" makes it a different kinda Horsepower :/

basically trying to justify the expense of goin from a 140hp+ d16a9 and shell out all the money and time for an extra 20-25 horses...

i/h/e isnt going to make 33 hp on your D16.

Better to swap in a B18C and start with a better overall platform.

it might be better then the b16 if the new cams u buy have some nasty vtec lobes. it all depends. there are many variables in this equation but for an answer yes u can make it faster then a b16 with th right quality parts. i know the mugen sohc 1.6L had 235hp so thats pretty sick. just goes to show its possible.

well here's my dilemma...

i can source a decent shape B16a used for 600 bux....

problem is that it's mated to an auto tranny, and it doesn't have an ecu...

so i dunno if i could mate the tranny from my d1a and then somehow find a ecu somwhere...

or my other option would be a ZC sohc vtec...

or just stick to the current lump... :/

you cant use a d series transmission on a b series block.

and no i/h/e wont make 33hp
ever.

MAYBE 10 for all 3.

yes and yes.

but why not just start with a B18?

Or buy the cheap b16, and get a transmission and ecu for it.

around here Vtec engines are fairly limited...

If i ask around for a b18 ppl laugh at me like i told them there's money growin on trees...

most ppl cheap out and buy accords and preludes with F22's for example... hell even my del sol had a D15z that was swapped to this...

how much would an ECU run me? and how difficult is the swap? new wiring new engine mounts etc etc?

Now, now. Some ppl don't like the extra 75lbs.

SCCA Solo, anyone.

Stick with the current lump AS IS until the current non-lump in your back pocket becomes a lump.
