I'm putting a d16z6 head on my d16a6 block. I got everything hooked up. It won't start... It's turning fine. and i think im getting a spark b/c at first there was a big flame that shot out my exhaust pipe. But its not firing up. any other things to try. Could it have something to do with my distributor.

Also I'm using an Apex'i VAFC if that helps.

Check to make sure plug wires are not crossed. If all is ok, then ign timing must be way off. Either of those will cause your flame out.

 

They are not crossed. How do i check ignition timing. How should i adjust the distributor if so?
