distributor issue
the plugs are getting spark, i can smell fuel when i try to start it, how can i make sure its getting to it though? and i did put the firing order of the plugs right... everything is hooked up how its supposed to be and the distributor only goes in one way, so there is no chance i messed up timing, i've asked two mechanics and they said i didn't, for some reason it just wont turn over, like it will crank but sit there and not do a damn thing..
and if i somehow did mess up the timing, how would i fix it, i've tried playing w/ it, like moving the dizzy and try cranking it but nothing works? should i check spark in all four plugs, i checked the #4 plug when i did check it.
i miss my car haha, and i got new rims to put on and i want it to be all fixed for the weekend lol.

When you replace the the distributor you make sure its on cylinder #1 other wise you will screw the timing. I had the same issue I messed with it by turning it 180 deg. So I messed the timing because I turned back the way it was and it didnt start. So I took the valve cover off and yeah the cam gears were set off. I think its the timing. Fix it then before you put in the distributor make sure its on cylinder #1. Then you should be all set. that is if you are getting fuel and spark.

Look Ive been working on hondas for 2 months ever in my life. Ok heres how to do the timing you have to take the driver side rim off to be able to access the pulley. Ok then take the valve cover off, loosen the timing belt there should de a bolt right above the pulley, Loosen it do not take it off.
Ok take the belt off the cam gears. Then you have to put cylinder #1 at TDC( cylinder 1 is the one farthest from the distributor) by doing that you take all the spark plug wires off to avoid accidental start of the motor.
Take the #1 spark plug out then take a flash light and you have someone crank the motor but a second at a time till you see the cylinder head at the top.
Then you take a rachet and turn the motor about 6 degrees before it reaches the top top.
Ok cylinders are at correct timing.
Then for the cam timing. look at the cam gears the should have 1 arrow on each that (says up in the arrow). turn the cams till both arrows are pointing up.
Then put the belt back in position and tighten the belt till the tension is good on equal parts of the belt.
Then put the valve cover back on and make sure everything is connected right like the distributor.
Ok before you start up you should open the distributor cap and it should be at cylinder #1.
ok tighten everything the distributor, plugs, valve cover, everything you took off.
(SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG PLEASE)
Then start the engine. Hope it works. Or if you think you cant do it find a mecanic and have em do it.
Well if your low on cash like I was just do some research and you'll be able to do it. Or just get a mecanic they should be able to do it in about half an hour to an hour or so. And my guess as for fixing timing they should charge no more than 50 bucks. Hope it solves your issue.
you must have screwed up your spark plug order. i can't see how you could have messed up your timing. make sure that none of the spades on the distributor connections are backed out from the socket.
Yes but you have to crank the motor a lil bit to the front by putting the ratchet on the pulley and you crank it a lil bit forward. That would be it for the crank. Its good if you put a crean wire just to check the position of the piston. Then just line up the cam gears with the arrows pointing to the top. Place the belt back on and assemble everything you took apart. And start it up.
I didnt know how mine got screwed until I took off the valve cover my cams werent lined up thats how I knew but still dont know how it happened. Anyway I got it up and running. Its a 92 gs-r the aztec green one.
your distributor may be off 180 degrees (yes it is easy to do, even though some say it is impossible, seen it done it). remove it, rotate it 180 around and reinstall it. if you are still having a problem, check for spark in each plug, then check each plug.
If its trying to crank, and spark is hitting, adjust the position of the distributor.
You live in Ohio. I can come help, its over 8 hours so I'd need some food for it.
That is all.

are you sure because it doesn't wanna go in at all when i turn it 180 and i dont wanna cram it in there and mess something up....
and haha i can get a **** load of food for ya
