tranny problems....need help...
Swapped in a ys1(93 gsr) tranny fitted w/ a kaaz lsd. Problems:
first to second shifts up high grind but go in. Second to third also grind and goes in stubbornly. Downshifting to second requires a rev match over where the rpm in second would normaly be and even then grinds. Without a rev match it won't go into gear at all.
Does this sound like bad 2nd and 3rd gear syncros? or bent shifter fork? If it is the syncros are the gears alos going to be bad? Does the Helms factory service manuals cover rebuilds or do I need a seperate manual?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you used the Kaaz LSD fluid you may experience some notchiness or grinding in your shifts, so I've heard. If you do a search on Kaaz you might turn up some results on a good replacement transmission fluid which will work with the LSD.
I'm running Honda mtf fluid w/ one 4 oz bottle of ford friction modifier for lsd's. That was what was recommended by several people.
Well, if you end up replacing the synchros that's a job I'd leave to a professional. Transmissions are arguably more complex to work on than engines. Hope someone else has some good news for you

I'm not scared, I'm confident I can do it, I just need to be led in the right direction. What are the symptoms of a bent shifter fork as apposed to bad gears and syncros? Anybody know?
