--- Is the tranny giving up?? ---
When shifting into 3rd, the gear would pop out, but when shifting into 3rd again (after it pops outta gear), then gear would stay in. What's the problem?
3rd gear is gone? Shift linkage?
Was thinking it might be the short shifter (or linkage not lining up) but if it were the shifter, then it would happen to 1st and 5th gear, wouldn't it?
Car info: 96 GS-R motor swap in 98 Civic. Everything pretty much stock on
the tranny side except a ACT clutch kit and a no-name short shifter.
What do you think?

it might be the control arm brace inside of the tranny, it might of been loose due to power shifting and the simple fact of wear and tear is starting to become at play. i had the same problem when i figured out why my car wasnt goin into reverse properly. it looks like a little 2 pointed tooth that goes over the transfer cap in the tranny. take it apart, it simply might just be it. if it is tighten it and make sure it does no slip while installing the tranny back on. or it might be the shift linkage and shortthrow, cheack all bearings and bolts and see if the linkage shifts motion.

One of my old LS trannies used to do that to 4th gear until it won't go in at all no more....I opened her up and it was the synchro and the 3rd/4th hub and sleeve all ate up. Open it up and you'll see something if u look carefully.
