i have a 94 civic dx coupewith an older b18c1 swap. the tranmission is stuck in fourth gear! i can put it in neutral and its still in fourth. no matter what i do its in fourth. could it be simple as throw out bearing? also i can push the slave cylinder in with my fingers but would that cause this? any help is appreciated. also before this happened it was popping out of fifth gear...

are you sure that your shifter mechanism didnt break? because if you physically shift it into the gear then it will be in that gear. Either your shifter mechanism under the car (part of the shift linkage broke) or the shifter inside of the tranny broke (ive never even heard of this happening). So you should go under the car and check it out.

i will deffinetely go take a look. i can shift it into 1 2 3 5 and reverse but if i do and let out the clutch the car will not move. in neutral its in fourth, it had to of broke in the tranny because in able to still shift gear but ill go take a peak. ive never heard of this either right before it happened it sarted shifting very hard also

just checked it out all my linkages are good would a bad throw out bearing or slave cylinde do this? i can still use the clutch but its stuck in fourth so i have to ride the clutch. im really hopeing its not the transmission itself messed up. any suggestions?

if it wont come out of fourth gear its either a linkage issue or an internal transmission issue.

someone i justtalked to said the clutch could be froze? i know its not the linkage i can shift it with my hand

i had the same problem with my gsr and it was the clutch that was bad

coun't be the clutch on any standard car you can cruse along in 4th gear then without touching the clutch pull the shifter into neutral and it will go.

it is your shift linkage in the transmission, the pin that comes out of the back of the transmission that the shift linkage attaches to runs into the transmission there is a set screw and a coller/clip connecting to the shift forks. sounds like one of those messed up.

first drain trans fluid to see if any metal, best place to start

i appreciate the help im gonna drain fluid and see about pulling the tranny out n apart. ill let everyone know when i find the problem for future references

heres the deal i put the car in first today and let the clucth out and it acted like the transmission froze. then it broke free and i was able to shift into all gears normaly. in neutral and letting the clucth out there is a noise im guessing throwout bearing? when the car was sitting idleing without me in it it popped into gear itself and stalled the car. would the throwout bearing cause it to do that? if not its a bearing in the transmission im guessing

Throw out bearing is just used to push the pressure plate on the clutch. It would only make a noise when clutch pedel is being pushed in. With the clutch pedel out the throwout does not spin nor move, and with the slave cylinder that actuates the fork with the throwout onto the pressure plate. Your problem sounds like a linkage problem.

the external linkage is fine so it has to be something in the transmission then. when it was idleing without me in it it starting makeing some grinding noises and i could here the gears starting to catch and it popped into a gear and stalled. if i pull it apart is there neway of repairing the linkage or is it pretty well f'ed? id rather not spend the oney on a new tranny then have it do it again later down the road. the motor has a slight build (high compression) but its not crazy h.p. o i shouldnt have to upgrades nething should i

also could i use a transmission from a teggy ls or gs i know the gears are different and i know id have to convert to cable but will they bolt up and work properly?

Yea if you don't know how to work around a trans I would not recomend doing it. But yes all b series trans will bolt up. And I think there is an la hydro, not sure I'm probably wrong.

Honda made hydro LS transmissions too, found in all '94 - '01 integras except GS-R/ITR. You could also use a '94 - '97 Del Sol Vtec transmisison, one from a '99 - '00 Civic Si, or even use guts out of '92 - '93 Integra ('90 - '91 wont work here) cable transmission in the hydro case you have. Cable transmission will bolt up to the engine but its really not worth the hassle.
