Timing and TDC questions?
Ive just installed a d16z6 head.. my distributor is off, my timing belt is off, and my head still needs to be torqued to spec.. how do i get my engine to TDC and how do i do my timing?
Before taking off the head you should of set the motor to TDC.
Since you did not then you will have to turn the crankshaft pulley in a counterclockwise direction until the number 1 piston is at the highest point in rotation (number 1 piston at TDC). You can verify this by feeling for the #1 piston.
Align the white mark on the crankshaft pulley to the mark on the lower timing belt cover. This will help you determine if #1 piston is at TDC.
