testing a relay to see if it is functioning correctly

i'm trying to test my horn relay to see if it has malfunctioned. do i test for voltage, continuity????

You have to check the switched side for continuity with the coil powered and unpowered, to make sure that it switches.

yup, hook it up to (generally) 12 volts, and measure continuity.
