I have a d17a2 with like 17k miles. I heard synchromesh does wonders for the transmission in terms of smooth shifting, eliminating grinding, etc. I have heard that the GM brand is the same as the Pennzoil - i have also heard the opposite, that u cannot use GM in non-GM products. Should I use synchromesh period? If so, is it alright to use GM brand?

So when did they start costing 30.00 a bottle
My tranny takes 2 quarts and its 6.99 for a quart

 

gm synchro is pretty expensive, i paid close to $50, for 3 quarts of the friction modified stuff.
B-series tranny's take about 2.5 quarts so you have to buy 3.
But anyways..best shifting honda tranny i've ever felt

 

i dont get it, i live in the Car Capital of the world and GM products cost more here i hate michigan

 

i just bought some, it was $27.32 with tax for 3 quarts, gets rid of unwanted grings (most of them)

 

Unless you have slight grinding, then I would stay with Honda MTF. When you do start to grind, look into the GM Synchromesh. I don't know where these people are getting these outrageous price claims, but I got 3 quarts of GM Synchromes Friction Modified (don't use the friction modified unless you have an LSD) for under $30, and it's not exactly like changing tranny fluid takes any special skills or anything.

 

Whats so bad about using GM Synchromesh Modified Friction for a Non- LSD?
I've bought some GM Synchromesh (normal) stuff and got rid of (some) grinds.
I still do get high reving grinds on 3rd gear. Also still get reverse grinds all teh time. Would you consider me getting the Friction stuff?
