I just slapped my fresh head on my motor and i am trying to put on the timing belt.
I got the 2 cam pulleys exactly at TDC with notches dead on.
I also got the not on the crank lined up with the notch on the oil pump...
then i put the timing belt cover on and it lines up fine with the crank...
then i put the crank pulley on and THE MOTHER ****** IS OF BUY A DEGREE!!!
has any dealt with this before?
the only thing i can think of is that it might be because of the N1 crank pulley, but thats OEM so i doubt it

What I would do is put the belt on, make sure its all lined up, then go ahead and tighten the tensioner down. Then put on the crank pulley, just sounds like your slightly moving the crank when you put the pulley on. In seriousness, you can have the timing marks way off when you put the pulley on, then just loosen the tensioner and adjust the belt/gears as need be.
It happens; is hard to put the sproket mark right on with the oil pump, just line up the crank with the crank pulley and then take it off to tension it.

what i'm trying to say is that the timing marks dont corespond with each other.
I'm positive nothing moved whil i was putting on the pulley and the marks were off.
Mind you, i did the ghetto find TDC yourself methond with a screw driver and it DID agree with the crank/oil pump marks. just didnt seem to line up pulley to cover
But nevertheless i'm glad to be getting some feedback finally

I was saying because sometimes when i put everything at tdc, all the marks line up, but when i put the pulley on the mark would be off by a little.
If its a little you should be ok

It ''should'' be ok, i did it with mine and it was fine.I couldnt seem to get to line up perfectly, but its good

i bet if you spin the crank with the belt on counter clockwise a little bit the two marks on teh cam sprockets will line right up
seems to me that your crank pully may have the timing marks on the wrong spot thats all.
