surging idle after obd2-obd2 conversion.
Im running a 97 b18b. Car is running perfectly fine with obd2 LS ecu. Now i tried running an obd1 LS ecu and i get a surging idle from 1k-1.5k. Are there any sensors that are different?

bump.
I lowered the idle and managed to get a normal idle when the motor is at normal temp. However, when it's cold it still surges. My TB doesnt have a FITV, so im guessing it may be the iac but it was working fine?
any suggestions?
thanks.

yes that is what I am saying. An OBD2 car does not have FITV and handles its idle functions through the IAC where as OBD1 cars have a FITV and the ECU is awear of this and handles idle differently throught the IAC. make an sense? I hope i did'nt confuse anyone because i think i just confused myself!!!

sweet, thanks for the info. I will try to get a TB with FITV.

I know its not an electrical sensor but the ecu is still going to compinsate somewhat for it being there with the IAC, the other thing you can try is the PCV valve.....I had a surging idle on a prelude the other day and it happened to be the PCV valve was bad, check that!
ill look for more things to try!

Sometimes, idle issues can be an unfixable problem when converting to OBD1. Usually it only happens when the car is cold, such as what you're experiencing -- you'll just have to live with the idle fluctuations.
happens a lot too, when OBD2 civic/integra owners convert to OBD1 and run an chipped P28, P72, P30, etc, ecu's...

i tried a new PCV and the problem still occured. I tried the ecu in my buddys car and it started doing the same thing. I think the ecu is bad.
thanks for all the info guys.
