Default Supercharged B20

I was wondering if i supercharged my B20. Would it still be reliable or would i need to resleeve? I plan on running 6-8psi (which ever the kit comes with?) with basic bolt on adders...

ps: 38,000 miles on b20b motor (8.8:1 compression) and 50k on tranny... if this means anything

It'll still be very reliable. The supercharger kits commonly available (I presume you are talking about a Jackson Racing kit) don't put that much additional stress on the engine.

I don't see any porblem with it.
I would do it without hesitation.

the b20 should handle that w/ no problem. Stay 6-8 psi for max reliability. However, that setup would have so much torque , you might be hurting performance w/ a gsr trans. The gears are to short and you would not be making the most of all that freeking torque. I would suggest you to try a ls trans. Usually, I tell people to throw those away, but in this case I have a feeling that you will go faster w/ a trans with longer gears.

Thanks for the replys!, Yea I'm savin up to get the Jackson Racing kit. They have nice kits available and Ive heard nothing but possitive comments about them. So I'll go with JRSC. And YES lol torque is going to be crazy... but then again.. so am i haha THanks again for the replys

Let me suggest one other thing......limited slip differential.
Trust me, you'll wish you had it.

You've obviuosly spent time on this engine was there a reason you chose not to go for a vtec head?

fastest boosted hondas are non vtec. less rotational mass on the cams.

If I had it to do all over again, I would choose boost over vtec.
No technical reason for me. I just would.

The Vtec head is a great project, but that I don’t have time or money for (tuning, building, ect) And I've always wanted to boost my car but a Turbo would be too expensive to get all the engine management I needed and tune it correctly. (Plus I don’t want that $500 header to be a waist! HaHa jk) The JRSC kit would give me all the power I needed with an easy install and great reliability without breaking the bank. I love the CRVtec and also Turbo but I can’t have all 3 so this is just the best choice for me. (Yes I know I could have 2 but I’ll remind you; this is my everyday driver and not my drag car ) But thanks for the question

That's ridiculous IMO. Head airflow capability means so much more than the small difference in cam mass as to make such a claim pointless. By such reasoning, the single cam motors should then be just that much better than the DOHC motors.

I don't know about the mass of the cams, but the lift/duration doesn't make that big of a difference on supercharged engines. I have a supercharged 98 ITR, and you can hardly tell the difference at the VTEC changeover. When I was researching a new cam setup I was suprised to find that the lower duration/lift GSR cams would work best with the supercharger. It goes against my basic knowledge of engine performance, but that is what the experts say.

don't gsr cams have less overlap than ITR?
If so, when you pressurize the intake, wouldnt boost just go in and out and not really increase cyl. psi. which makes hp.
I might be wrong but this theory makes sense in my feeble mind

ur car should still just as reliable as before. Ive seen them last with up to 12 psi, w/stock internals, w/o problems. So i wouldnt worry about tearing down your motor for 6-8 psi. happy boosting

peace,

sounds like it'll be a sweet setup. be sure to post a dyno plot when you're done

40-60 wheel HP increases are not uncommon with a B20 JRSC kit.
