Default STUMPED...Vtec

arite, i been having this problem for a couple of weeks now. im running an obd1 b16 in my hatch and vtec doesnt seem to want to cooperate with me. vtec usually engages at around 5k or so. well ill start the car and after about 1 or 2 minutes of driving, the check engine light will come on. once this check engine light comes on vtec will not engage. the car still runs normally and everything else is fine, just no vtec. i pulled the code and im getting cel 22...(vtec malfunciton) duhh....reset ecu and nuthing happened. i check my oil level everyday and drive around with atleast an extra quart in my trunk, so i know it has nothing to do with the oil. can you guys juss gimme a list of things to check, cause im kinda stumped...BTW...i checked vtec wiring and that all seems to be fine as well. THANK YOU

Try out the section for whatev car you have (crx or 92-00) the tech forums really don't get much love. I'd like to help, but I dun run vtec so I dunno, :-(

Get yourself a dvom and check continuity from the vtec solenoid connector on the engine harness to the correct ecu pin and do the same for the pressure switch's positive wire( the other is the ground). Check the pressure switch for continuity also. there ya go man.

The filter screen behind the VTEC solenoid can clog and cause your symptoms.
