Default Speedo stopped working need help!!

So about 4 days ago my speedometer and odometer stopped working. After a while of driving the check engine light pops on. Im thinking its an electrical issue so me and a buddy tried replacing the speed senser and that didnt fix the problem. So we tried a need speedometer and still nothing.

Bottom line. Im stuck and i need help!

There should be a 12v aource and ground and signal wire going back to your ecu. Check voltage at the blk yellow. If no voltage trace back to the junction connector and back to the ecu from there. Check your ground that also goes back to a junction connector (fat plug). You will need a multi meter. I'm sure you have a broken. Wire somewhere

Its the connector not making a good connection..remove the pins and make them tighter.

Unless the pins have been screwed with, it is not possible for them to need to be "made tighter", the connector housings have terminal retention.

To the OP, de-pin the 3-way VSS connector, use electronics cleaner/brake cleaner on the pins and reinsert in their proper cavities.

Most likely corroded terminals.

Do that after you found your input voltage signal voltage and ground. Dont mess up the connector.if you dont need to.

Over time, i have found this to be a quick fix actually. They do loosen. But ok. A quick test to see if it is a connection problem would yield better results.

OP Get some wire, 10 gauge, and cut some off. Now remove the outter covering around the wire to where its just plain wire, take a few strands and place it inside the connector of the harness. Re-plugin the harness to the sensor and go for a test drive. Report back.
