ive replaced the speed sensor 4 times already and it still doesnt work, use to work but didnt drive the car for a little while. the wiring is fine i dont know what it could be can someone help??

 

check fuse. then check and make sure your vss is getting voltage at the plug. Also make sure the plug on the harness has no corrosion in it.

 

x2 for the plug on the harness. My contacts rotted out and as a result the speedo used to bounce when it was wet out until I replaced the contacts.

checked the fuse and its good. the spedo use to work till the car was siting for a while and i cleaned the clip but it still wont work

 

what is the code/codes for the speed sensor. my car is throwing code 14 on a 97 ek

i had this happened after the swap and it didnt work for counting the miles... then for w.e reason it just started working again after a couple of weeks of driving... good luck!

 

yea the rpms work and the gas and the temp all work but it doesnt count the miles either. and ive drove on it for a few weeks already waiting to get my car tuned but i need to fix it before i get it tuned cause the v tec wont work without it and i have launch control at 6000rpms so i cant go past that in any gear lol

 

I have exactly the same problem with my car.I changed the speed sensor today it didn't work.One of my friend said he knows what causes the problem and I am gonna take the car to him some day in next week then i can let you know what the hell is that.

soo ive been working on this all day and i got my check engine light to come off and the spedo still doesnt work. is it possible my cluster is bad?

 

did u ever check and see if the vss has power at the plug? Did you check the voltage out? Start simple. If you have power at the plug and its sending a signal then I would suspect your speedo is bad.
