Solid check engine light? with chipped p28
Hey guys i need some help, ive had this solid cel ever since i got my p28 chipped. i got a y7/z6 in a 98 coupe with boomslang obd1 conversion harness and stock uberdata p28 map. The car idles kinda rough, vtec dont engage, and its slow as ****! anyways the ecu has to be fine cuz it works perfect in my buddies accord with his chip in it and i used his p28 with my chip in it and i get the same thing. Could it jus be a bad chip? Im frickin lost so any input would help. plz no hating.

Have the same symptom when I tried out my modded p06 to p28 ecu. Later on found out that closed loop was enabled so disabled it and my problem has gone away. My assumption is that your chip has closed loop enabled. By the way, use crome, its a great program.

with crome you have to select "disable o2 sensor (open loop)" for it to be in open loop so if you don't select that, it will be in closed loop.

bad chip. Burn another one. Also, the uberdata base maps run like ****.
See if you can find a known good stock z6 bin file on the web somewhere and try that.

Problem located. First of all, the cel is due to either a) improper checking uder the "misc" tab in uberdata or b) bad chip or loose chip connection. Nothing else will give you a solid cel, period. I'm 99% sure it's because you didn't get the "misc" tab settings right.
Also, the car will run pig rich on an uberdata basemap. You shouldn't run the car like that. Stock uberdata maps are **** - almost worthless.

Crome is better if you buy the $150. The free version doesn't have the same features that free Uberdtata does. But Uberdata is buggy software. Both have pros and cons, take your pic.

uberdata's fine if you know what your doing you need to remove the checksum on the rom in hex edit as far as the solid cells double check soldering job because if you got good roms and try them out ecu's know good just cut j1 and run it stock p28 good luck.

Had this same problem because my car vibrates a lot. Alot of chipped p28 ecu's have the chip held down by a little metal clamp, lift it up and make sure the chip is actually snug in the socket. Took me about 3 weeks to find this fix for mine, hopefully it helps someone.

Re: Solid check engine light? with chipped p28
its possibly a bad rom if you didn't insert the chip in the burner properly or the addressing is off also crome has the option of clearing the checksum for the file if its modified the solid cel will go on if the rom fails to load or the checksum dose not add up properly
