Default Socketing a JDM p30 for Uberdata

I got a JDM p30 with my JDM swapped b16, lol that makes sense. I want to try out Uberdata. Can i chip my p30? I ordered all the parts from the parts list i found at this site:

http://home.mn.rr.com/keebler6....html

Will these only work for the p28?

thanks
andrew

A GayDM P30 uses a surface mount 74HC373, which is not at all the same as the normal 20-DIP used in USDM ECUs. The correct part is listed on pgmfi.org's wiki - where you should go for authoratative information on Honda ECU chipping (no offense to keebler, he's got a good primer) .

I recommend holding the SMT 74HC373 to the ecu with a drop of glue so that you don't slide the tiny thing all over the place trying to get it soldered. Use a 15 watt iron with a very tiny tip and steady your hands as best you can. I don't bother adding more solder, that only gets things messy IME.

well ****, I wont even bother with the GayDM p30. I"ll just keep it as a failsafe incase i have problems with the p28 that i'm getting. So everything that i ordered from Keeblers parts list will work good with my p28?

Yup yup. Feel free to PM me if you have any Q's or last minute problems... keebler, and a dozen others, would probably be happy to help you with that sort of thing, too.

The 15 watt iron is to keep you from overheating the SMD 74HC373. I recommend a 35-40 watt iron for the through-hole components.

I could probably help you. I have a shitload of the parts needed to chip an ECU sitting in my garage. Let me know what you need.
