Default skunk2 stage2 vs jun3

ok, i ran a search for this but got no definitive answer. do the stage2s make just as much if not more power than the jun3 cams? i've read that they do, but i haven't been able to find dynos comparing the two.

who has the stage2s and can vouch for their performance gains? i know you can't go wrong with the jun3s.

no way will they make more power than JUN! Alot of the dyno plots you see aren't real accurate... (lsvtec with sk2 v.s. b16 with JUN III- no **** there's a difference) I hate sk2 just cause everyone thinks sk2 is better than JUN.... that's hard to stomache. I'm not a JDM junkie, but I can appreciate a company that takes time to R&D cams on something othe than 1320.

I ridden in two identical CRVTEC's they both have good power.... On was in an 95 Integra and the other was in a 98EK.... Personally I like the JUN3's better.... They both will peel out second gear on the street just letting VTEC crossover... Being in an Integra they are hard to judge... he ran 12.9@106 all motor full interior daily driven. We never ran the EK but my friend has one now that is also identical except it has CTR cams.. He ran 12.62@107 in his EK (w/ CTR cams) The one with JUN3's blew up because the portflow inners didn't work too well with the JUN's and they shattered.. Those JUN3's are still my favorite cam just for their top end power.. That car raced my friend Albert (jdmEKhb) on the street a long time ago... Albert killed him off the line because the CRVTEC was spinning but once he hit third it was all over... JUN3's

yeah...that was ******* retarded. So skunk2 only spends their precious time on the 1320....yeah, your probably right since you spend countless hours with them, fine tuning each product they design. You hate them solely because everyone thinks that they are better then JUN....really? I didn't know that everyone thinks that. Sounds like you are just a JDM junkie.

Basically man, no two parts will ever make the same exact power on the same car. They both make excellent power and pretty similar power. Either way, be sure to take the time to actually dyno tune your setup.

Yea, well like i said it's hard too judge them, one was in an CRVTEC integra and the other was in a EK... Kinda hard to tell... Even if the Teg has more power it's still pullin a heavier car... Also i got nothing wrong with Skunk2 and it's not like i like JUN just because it's Jspec ****.. Actually i didn't even think about it that way... Just went by the feel... And also only the Teg has been on the dyno, the EK blew up before we ever got a chance too... Latez

Ok you're soooo right... SK2 is the greatest cam in the world.... Man, I wish I could just get rid of my JUN IIIs and get some real SK2 power... so that I could be like everyone else... This battle has gone on for a long time. JUN vs. SK2 vs. Toda vs. Cower vs. Hondasaver (which actually kick JUN *** ) Who gives a **** anymore? I'm going to say JUN is better cause I talk to JUN all the time.. getting specs, dynos, etc. I stay far away from SK2 cause IMHO they are ****. same as some other companies, but that's neither here nor there. Last time I checked SK2 wasn't running major circuit races (yes that includes SPeedvision Challenge) or setting land speed records, but then again I guess I can't expect the best cam company in the world to be so productive. Build it how you want, take EVERYTHING you see on HT with a grain of salt. Talk to your tuner and see what he reccommends, what he is familiar with.

sooo does anyone have dynos comparing the two? i can't seem to find any. i'm sure you guys know your stuff, but all the info i've gotten is pretty much "jun is better" or "skunk2 is better"....nothing that can really sway me one way or the other.

whichever cams i decide on will go into a built b20/vtec w/ 12.5:1 compr

Sk2 stg2's are pretty aggressive ...
Jun Type 3 12.0 mm, duration - 265.3 @ 1mm 11.5 mm, duration - 265.3 @ 1mm

Skunk2 stage 2 12.3 mm, duration 266 @ 1mm 11.8 mm, duration 262 @ 1mm

http://www.allmotorhonda.com/techpages/camspecs.htm

Also, there was a dynograph og jun3's and sk2 stg2's and they were very similar throughout the whole powerband..both were tuned on the same motor...i think importbuilders posted it?

Listen man, I'm not saying any company is better than another. My point is that since they are similar profile cams(sk2 vs j3) they will make similar power. I'm just saying you seem to say skunk2 sucks just because you think they suck.

Oh and my tuner recomends whatever makes the best power and doesn't break. He hasn't had any problems with Skunk2, and he currently has a b20vtec running these sk2 st2 cams in a CRX, which is the company drag car.(the only drag car in the fleet)

My point: buy what works...even if it isn't JDMy0.

Just to throw this out there, not to start a war...

Jeff at Import Builders did a dyno comparison of the two cams and he said it was too close to call. The specs on the Skunk2 Stage2's are very similar to the Jun III's. Almost everyone agrees that the Jun III's kick ***. I went with the Skunk's because of the fact that more than one set of the Jun III's have been reported to break.
