is this a sign of a bad tps???
i have a 92 civic vx with the d15z1 still in it.
it is fairly stock.
a couple of months ago it downpoured and the next morning i went to go get gas.
i thought it was just me getting some bad gas.
well about months later i still have this currnt problem
when i get on the car around 5k rpm the car will bog down and lose what little power has.
i cant redline at idle or driving.
it sort of cuts down around 4500-5000 rpm.
i don't know why. maybe is this a bad tps or what.
any advise is apprieciated. thanks

get a multimeter on the signal wire and check it at idle and WOT and inbetween. Ideally your supposed to use a vantage pro or something similar (oscilliscope) but most of us arent fortunate enough to have $2k+ tools. That should give you a good idea. Should be around .45-.5 at idle and around 4.5-4.7 or so WOT. It should have 5v at the power.
Also you can do this KOEO (key on engine off)

when you start your car dose it idle high then drops and keeps doing it. if it dose then try this turn the car off disconnect the connection to yout tps then re start you car if the car idel is smooth and steady then its your tps.
i would try this befor going and opening the back to check out your gas\fuel pump.
good luck

no this doesnt account for other bad spots in the sensor other than at idle. There can be bad spots in the sensor. It is a potentiometer.

Got a similar problem. I have a 01' Civic LX that after about 40 mins of driving on a hot day, it will act like its running out of gas yet it will still go but slowly (about 35-40mph)even with the pedal to the floor. yet on cool days winter, early mornings will run just fine all day. Changed out Fuel pump, no joy. I'm thinking it might be TPS as well. OBDII comes up as refering to TPS and check engine light is on constantly. Anyone got an idea?
