this is a stupid question,but anyways can a short shifter cause damage to the tranny

i've heard people blameing its the short shifter that makes them grind gears. but its not true, its the way you drive

i have a short shifter on my car. if ur sychros are bad its gonna grind no matter what since the gears are going in faster than they can synchronise. but ya it all depends on the way u drive. not clutching it right ect.
