Re: question about short shifter (egcoupe)
Ive heard after an extended period of time a short shifter tends wear on your synchros pretty bad.
My advice would be to keep your stock shifter y0.

Re: question about short shifter (egcoupe)
A short shifter will not mess up your tranny at all. The only reason people say that it does is because when people go from a stock shifter to short throw, some people are not used to it and may grind some gears sometimes. But as long as you drive stick good, youll be fine.

You can grind gears lots of ways but one of the reason is that when people put in a short throw shifter, they not that used to the shorter throw then the stock one. Or else people will let out the clutch to soon or whatever. I would say get one. I haad one in both my cars. I have a B&M short throw in my 92 si right now but i wanna get the skunk 2 cause my B&M always tends to get loose and rattles a bit sometimes.

Re: question about short shifter (Hatchsi92)
A shifter won't damage the tranny, the driver will. Keep in mind that the GSR has a shorter shifter than the SI or other civics.

'94-01 Integra shifter has a shorter throw than the stock Civic unit and is a direct swap. OEM strength too

i checked the part number at acuraparts247 and the shifter is the same for all integras except itr for 94-01. i dont know why everybody says the gsr has the shorter shifter out of the tegs

Not a direct swap on a 96-00 civic. However you can easily modify it with a dremel to fit. Also teg shifter is a dual bend like the skunk2 unit

Re: question about short shifter (egcoupe)
if your going to buy a short shifter, buy a quality one like the skunk2, all the other ones suck and they break off right at the threads. i have broken 3 already and i finally went for a skunk2 and have not had a problem since.

AGREED! My syncrhos were good when i had a stock shifter.....after 2 years of having a short shifter, my 3rd and 4th gear synchros are getting bad! Keep it stock, and if you do get a short shifter, get a high quality one. I'm sure its worth the money!
