Can someone tell me where I can get a C's short shifter. Like a link or something?

Whew... That's some serious money for a shifter.... I got a cheap little OBX for $25 from a friend and put the money saved into my "Turbo" saving account.

What is the difference in C's and everything else?

sum1 told me this
"Short shifters change the leverage of the linkage....it will grind in the long term...because things inside the tranny aren't within spec no more when the lever moves....the only one which I could ever recommend is C's....but that **** costs like 350CAD for the short shifter...."

any comments?

So will using my OBX short shifter mess up my transmission?

No your obx shouldn't ruin your tranny. Short shifter do not put tranny's out of spec. All a short shifter is a change in the pivot point of the shifter which changes the distance of the "throw." It does not change the moving distance of the shift linkage. If you draw it out on paper and use some old geometry it'll really help you visualize how it works.

This shifter and the B&M Pro Edge both have an adjustable fulcrum (the base section) so that u can raise and lower the shifter.. Of course the lower u go, the more u compromise the exhaust clearance.. If u want the best quality shifter, these are the ones.. If u want to sport the name, get C's.. If u want the same quality of shifter at half the price, get the pro edge.. ~$145

well that's not good at all... I guess I will start looking... I think I am going to go with the B&M. It sounds like the best for the buck. Thanks for the input on this shifter that took like 2 hours to get on (since I couldn't get my exhaust off). I just wasted a lot of time and a little bit of money that could have gone toward other mods.

Look into billet STEEL shifter and not Billet Aluminum. The aluminum can eventually break due to heat stress from the exhasut. Check out Neuspeed and Skunk2's steel shifters.

The C's is a great shifter but for the money I'd get something that will make the car faster. You can learn to shift faster on any shifter. But if you can afford to drop 3 bills in the shifter go for it. You'll be the envy of most of us on the board. I have a kid, I can't get anything like that anymore. The Mugen pedals will have to wait too!

C's Short Shifter sitting on my desk. Going in tomorrow so I guess I'll see if it's worth the money.

By the way, the shifter goes for 200 in Japan, so realisitically it's not much more than the Neuspeed which goes for 175. The main problem is that it's not sold here...

get under the car and lower the exhaust under the shifter a bit.
bend the hangers on the car chassis bit by bit until you get no rattles.
also check your muffler -tip-to-bumper clearance after making any hanger adjustments because you may inadvertantly get the tip to touch the bumper.. dont ask how I know....

no problems with rattles here.. maybe because my poly mounts rattle the fk out of everything else..

I too once had an OBX-quality-no-name shifter and it snapped right off on my way out to Tahoe.. I drove my car back with no center console and with a really short shift.. That's why i ended up spending a few more bucks on the Pro Edge..

I have the ES bushings which don't cause rattle, just a lot of vibration... especially when downshifting/engine braking

Im sorry, but a product should fit a car without having to bend exhaust hangars. Thats my opinion at least. How com so many other companies make short shifters, and the only one that rattles is the B&M one? I find it interesting that people think its OK for a product not to fit right. Why is that?

Just a little info: My B&M Edge shifter used to rattle all the time (I also have an aftermarket exhaust). After a while, the rattle is gone (?)! I just realized I don't get the rattle at all anymore. What I used to do was occasionally go under the car and FIRMLY tighten down the bolts that connect the shifter to the linkage and change rod.

Also, a lot of lithium grease goes a long way.

Because people are gulible and buy into the "hype". I agree with you. The rattle is not a good tradeoff since there are other better fitting shifters on the market.
