Default serious question about standalone's...

Do I need to buy an ecu if the mods on the motor are extensive enough for a standalone? Thanks in advance

well, you can only make so much for the stock ecu. The more extensive your
engine setup gets the more gain you will see from a good engine management
system over the stock ecu

yeah but what I'm saying is why should I spend 200+ dollars for something that later I find out I really don't need?

are you talking about a stand only fuel management system like motec or aem? or are you talking about a chipped ecu?

I'm talking about standalone. I'm still in the process of building my motor but when I'm done I'm going to need something that can control the beast. Its a b18c into a crx and the thing is going to be sick. Can't go into too many details but the mods are extensive. I just need to know if I am going to need the ecu? if so why I thought thats what stand alone means "alone" I wish I spill more details but I'm not allowed.

Whatever you have planned.. I'm sure its been thought out, dropped, blown, reinstalled, slapped on, yanked off, refried, boosted, steam pressed, half eaten, and leg humped by at least 2 dozen H-T members here. There are no more secrets in the Import world anymore!! You think your living in 1997 or somethin'???

Like i said, I cant. take it however you want. Unlike some ******** out there I value the opinion of others. At least until they become ******** themselves.

Don't listen to these bobo's. I am telepathic and have read your mind. You will not need a standalone for the particular mods that you have in mind.
