How do you hook a laptop to your engine or ecu?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I have a 94ex and will soon be putting in a 98 b18c1 with a turbo setup. I kinda know what this entails, but looking for more info. How do I go about doing this? Is there a guide on this somewhere or whatever. Thanks.

oh boy, if i were u i would read, then read, then search, and read some more before u try to do anything but to ansewer your question you need a programable ecu to hook up a lab top up to. either complete stand alone unit like aem ems, fast, etc or a socketed obd1 ecu with hondata, neptune, chrome, etc.

your ECU has to be chipped and have a datalogging port. well, it might not need to be chipped (i'm not sure), but it definitely needs the datalogging port. then you need a datalogging cable. you'll also need some sort of computer program (not sure what it is)
if you're talking about tuning from the laptop directly to the ECU, you need something like ostrich.

all you have to do is cut the plug off you're charger then tap those wires into you're favorite color wire on the ecu. Then you are done.

the real question would be what is the reason why you want to hook a laptop to your ecu? I have a laptop that never leaves my car, but I have a boosted honda, hondata s300 with zeitronix wideband, and I do my own tuning. but whats your reason?

Have a chipped ecu, have a connecter at cn2, and ull need a serial-usb adaptor. unless your laptop is ghetto as **** and actually has a serial port. then ull need the proper datalogging software.

if you wanna do it properly, you can make your laptop, your ECU! Just wire what ever OBD style plugs, female side to your laptop, and away you go! lol Wouldnt life be wicked if it was like that! lol
Iv been running Hondata s300 for about a year now, and personally, wouldnt run another program but.
