Default Need a source for learning ECU

I've been searching the web and libraries for days with no luck at all. So, I figure the tuners would know where to look?

I'm interested in a source that will explain in-depth functions of how the Honda ECU works, how it manages fuel, how it sends & receives signals, etc.

The idea is, if I can learn it for myself, I won't have to burden anyone else with my car problems. And, I'll stop wasting my beer money on mechanics that haven't been able to figure it out.

I'm pretty familiar with electronics and processors, so I don't mind moderately technical texts; I just can't find one.
Thanks for any links or information you may have.
