I picked up a B16A block for free this weekend that had been blown (overrevved it all motor he said). I thought I was just getting the block, but he gave me everything ..... although two of the rods and pistons are shot.
Now, the problem is .... two of the sleeves are chipped, but only at the bottom of the sleeve. I'd guess that they are chipped no more than 1/2" up from the crank area (crank is shot as well). The cylinder walls look okay, but I am not sure exactly how they should look ...... there is no scoring in them that I could see.
My question ...... do you think I could just bore the block .25 over and it would work? Or would I have to get those two cylinders re-sleeved and then everything bored?
I wish I had pics of it, but I didn't pull the crank out yet, so it wouldn't be clear.

It sounds like when he blew the motor that the rods smacked the cylinder wall, or when he took the motor apart he was a little careless.
My suggestion is to get the thing sleeved and bored just to be safe. You're already ahead since you got the block for free, you may as well spend a couple hundred to make sure the block is going to work for you and not break.

Now I was told that I could get the iron sleeves for the two cylinders and get them put in. Is this possible?
I priced up re-sleeving, and it is about $700+ ..... I can just buy a complete 1st gen. B16A longblock for $500 .....

The sleeves themselves look okay on the cylinder walls. But at the bottom in the crank area, there are some small chunks taken out of the bottom of the sleeve in one cylinder and a little bit more in another. The rest of the cylinder looks okay (hence why I figured I'd get it 25 over).
I need to get pics so everyone can see what I'm talking about .......

what else happened to the block?
if it spun a main bearing, you will probably want to get an align hone anyway.
put the block to the side and get another one.

Guy said it was overreved. No limiter on his ECU, and he went too high. One of the pistons is totally f--ked, the other is damaged, the other two were fine.
I picked it up from him for free, so if it turns out to be too much to get it reasonably fixed, I'd say screw it and throw it on on Ebay to see if anyone wanted it ...... he gave me the complete short block basically, but in pieces. Crank is nicked and chipped from the piston getting nuked.
