Default APC Intake and filter question

I ordered an APC Intimidator intake and a chrome filter. The intake pipe looks like it's about 3 inches maybe, where as the filter inlet is more like 5 or 6 inches. I'm wondering how the hell i get the filter on the pipe. I called apc and no one picked up at the tech support extension, and the site i ordered off of said it should be able to fit. That filter is just way too big though. I'm wondering if there's something i don't know or whatever. it's for a 96 civic by the way. The civic is a friend of mine, christmas present that came late basically. So i can't even check to see if the pipe will fir the throttle body, but i hope that at least will. any help is greatly appreciated. i'd take pictures if i could, but i have no camera. thanks in advance.

APC is crap.

You should be able to order a K&N filter to fit your intake pipe. Do yourself and your friend a favor and stay away from APC.

Hey, wel sell APC at my job - and their stuff if Grade-A ! lol.
Anyways, yeah - the intake will fit, its just like those generic 3"
intake pipes (APC, Tenzo, Pilot, etc...), their filter is jus like the
other guys (its no K&N, but its rewashable - just use the K&N kit).
You can probably use the tenzo-R cold-air extension on it since its
basically the same (I had the tenzo cai before). As far as the fitment
of the filter and the tb - they have those silicone sleeves that fit
over the tb and u clamp it down, also the filter slips over the other
end of the piping. Just remove ALL of the factory intake and you'll
see the room you'll have in there. PS. don't forget to hookup the
valvecover breather hose and that other sensor on the intake pipe.
