Ive done some searching, and found some similar topics, but none of them seem to have any definite answers for this problem.

When my car is cold, and I release the clutch in first gear (only in first, no other gears), right as it is engaging there is a really loud screeching/whirring sound, almost like screeching tires, coming from what sounds like the clutch or tranny. Any help would be appreciated, I can't seem to pinpoint the problem.

BTW its a Y21 tranny, OBX lsd, 6 puck unsprung clutch, fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel, recently rebuilt, new 1-2 synchros

I was thinking possibly ISB? But would it make sense that it only makes the noise when the car is cold, and when the clutch is "engaging," not engaged or disengaged?

Also it feels as if there is no power getting to the pass. wheel. (when the noise occurs)

 

Nevermind! I did a search for "1st gear noise" - yeaa, who woulda thought haha. And I came up with this post:

Which explains everything on the second page, in integratom's post. I guess its normal for alot of 6 puck clutches to do it until they are warmed up.

 

my act 4 puck unsprung does this.. i think its just normal .. 2 hard surfaces rubbing make tht noise .
